Fotenn was the lead coordinating member of the multi-disciplinary design team developing a mid-rise purpose-built private student residence in the Sandy Hill neighborhood of Ottawa. The site is located directly adjacent to the University of Ottawa and is within close proximity to two future Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations. The development included the demolition of an existing four-storey apartment rental building, replacing it with a nine-storey, 120 unit (385 bedroom) purpose-built student residence apartment building. Development highlights included indoor and outdoor ground floor amenity areas, a rooftop amenity terrace, secured entrance, and ensuite bathrooms.
Development on the site required municipal planning approvals, including a zoning by-law amendment and site plan control. As a team member, Fotenn led the municipal planning approvals process, coordination of the multi-disciplinary development team, and consultation with neighborhood community associations.
