NCC Announces Winning Nepean Point Design

November 23, 2017

The National Capital Commision (NCC) selected a winning design for Nepean Point at its Thursday board meeting. The winning design is called Big River Landscape and was designed by Janet Rosenberg & Studio with Patkau Architects, Blackwell Structural Engineers and ERA Architects Inc. It was selected by a jury following an international design competition to redevelop the lookout in the heart of the Capital Region. In the first stage of the two-stage design competition, teams were invited to submit their qualifications. A total of 26 proposals were received from the world’s top design studios, from which four finalists, including Fotenn, were chosen to present their concept to the jury and the public in October. Although the Fotenn/Barry Padolski/West8 team did not in this case win the competition, we are happy to be have been able to play at least some small part in the process and look forward to seeing the design realized over the coming years. The first phase of construction is set to start between 2019 and 2020. The winning design can be found on the NCC’s website: http://ncc-ccn.gc.ca/posts/nepean-point-winning-design-concept-chosen
