Michael Stott Participates in the International Society of City and Regional Planners’ (ISOCARP) and American Planning Association (APA) Joint Conference in Portland
October 30, 2017
Fotenn’s Director of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture Michael Stott spent the week of October 23, 2017 in Portland, Oregon at the International Society of City and Regional Planners’ (ISOCARP) and American Planning Association (APA) joint annual conference. Michael ran a series of design charrettes throughout the week for municipal staff from Oregon Metro, Oregon City, and the City of Portland on the intensification of key development sites along transit corridors. Using Fotenn examples from Ottawa, Toronto and abroad, the charrettes were aimed at giving attendees a better understanding of design, policy and planning opportunities and constraints related to both urban and suburban transit-oriented developments.
While in Portland, Michael also ran a visioning workshop for 70 ISOCARP Young Professional Planners and Oregon State University students on new models of consultation and integrating gaming into design workshops. As part of the 10 Years of ISOCARP Awards, Michael also led a workshop on revitalizing former mill sites based on Fotenn’s work on the Zibi development in Ottawa and Gatineau for the Willamette Falls Legacy Project team.
