Fotenn Launches Chippewa Park Visioning Exercise in Thunder Bay

February 29, 2016

The City of Thunder Bay has engaged Fotenn Planning + Design in the creation of a renewed vision for Chippewa Park, one of Thunder Bay’s most treasured landmarks. As part of this work, a comprehensive consultation effort with local First Nations and urban aboriginal groups, key stakeholders, and members of the public is being undertaken to garner beneficial information from all interested parties. This project will guide municipal investment over the short and medium term and establish updated priorities and programming for the park.

As part of the City of Thunder Bay’s SNOW DAY festivities, the City’s Parks & Open Spaces Section, in collaboration with Fotenn Planning + Design, hosted an information booth to kick off a series of community consultations that will support the development of a renewed vision for Chippewa Park.

The consultations are a fundamental component of the Chippewa Park Visioning Project, which will explore opportunities to improve the park’s recreational and cultural resources. The project commenced in December 2015 and will continue over the next 6-9 months, with anticipated completion in late summer/fall 2016.
